Merdeka!
The road to independence took many turns.
It began with Singapore joining Melaya, Sabah and Sarawak to form the
new state of Malaysia in 1963
Disagreements among the political leaders eventually led to Singapore
leaving Malaysia
to become the independent Republic of Singapore in 1965.
