The trishaw made the leg-powered
Rickshaws obsolete. Trishaw men are able to cycle their passengers to
the destination much faster! You can still take a trishaw ride around
the city if you like.

While we do not believe in rushing it, we understand that there
are individuals who have tight schedules. If you have barely a day
in Singapore and believe that you can see it all and do it all,
then the New Asia Singapore Tour is perfect for you. It contains
all that we believe to be the essential highlights of any stay in
Singapore. We cover the crucial sites in Kampong Glam and Little
India, explaining the cultures and traditions evident in these two
ethnic enclaves. We'll drop by the Fuk Tak Chi Museum to discover
a little bit about the Chinese immigrant history and culture in
Singapore. You will also get the chance to explore the Singapore
River and enjoy a riverboat ride. Finally, we top the tour off with
a feast in a traditional Indian restaurant.

District Tour |

|
Reminiscent of Singapore's colonial past, the Civic District has
stood witness to tumultuous events in Singapore's history - the
Japanese surrender ceremony, the declaration of independence, our
first National Day Parade. Its central landmark is the Padang (Malay
for 'big field'): where once Indian convicts laboured, today cricketers
pit their skills. We begin with Fort Canning Hill, site of our very
first major fort. Find out why it was also known as 'Collyer's Folly'!
We'll visit St. Andrew's Cathedral, the place to be seen (specifically
by your governor!) Learn about the early settlers when we're at
the Armenian Church. Take this chance to check out Raffles Hotel,
a world-class destination. And of course, we'll have a Singapore
Sling while we're at it!

Just off the shores of Singapore lies an island frozen in time.
Kampong chickens, rubber plantations, houses on stilts, prawn ponds,
outhouses and coconut trees. All the things you'll never see on
the mainland again. It is a picture of Singapore in the 1950s. Our
guides just love doing this one! We begin at Changi where we board
a rickety motorboat for Pulau Ubin. The journey is beautifully picturesque.
We bring you to a small village where we'll enjoy a coconut drink
or two and learn something about the spirit of gotong royong. We'll
do a walk to experience the diversity of life on the island. But
the highlight of the tour, we've always believed, is a personal
visit to our favourite makcik (Malay for 'auntie') who will regale
you with stories of days past!

Oh no! The water has run out again! He grabbed the pail before
his mother noticed and sped his way to the nearest tap, parting
a crowd of chickens along the way. Fortunately, the situation
has changed significantly today. No more running to water taps kilometers
away. This is a tour about housing in Singapore. Sounds boring?
Hardly. We begin by checking out what a public housing estate is
like. It's an impressive all-in-one, with sports facilities, supermarkets,
community centres and sites of religious worship. Our guide will
then bring you through a hawker centre, a place which a regular
Singaporean frequents often. Following that, we tread carefully
through a wet market to experience the hustle and bustle! Finally,
you will be glad to settle in the warmth of a Singaporean flat.
Our host family will also provide us with a home-cooked meal!

| Civilisation
Series |
CV |
|
The Civilization Series offers a choice of 3 different tours, each
focused on the history and culture of a civilization that is relevant
to Singapore, namely, Malay Civilization, Indian Civilization and
Chinese Civilization. All three tours begin with an introduction
to the history of the civilization's development since its formation.
We then look at the cultural aspect, especially with respect to
its influence on Singaporean culture. These elements are always
covered in an interactive atmosphere, through visits to museums,
temples, mosques and even an archeological site. Each Civilization
Tour will also feature a traditional performance, such as Chinese
Opera, Malay Silat and Indian Dance.
